Defining Requirements for Projects and Procurements Course
Requirements are the foundation of project success. However, many organizations don’t spend enough time developing their requirements before beginning a project or engaging vendors in the procurement process. This lack of front-end strategy results in project overruns, missed expectations, scope creep, and gaps between the project implementation and the desired process improvements.
In fact, recent research has shown that companies with poor requirements definition will have three times as many project failures as successes and that organizations pay a premium of as much as 60% on time and budget when they use poor requirements practices on their projects.
To help avoid these pitfalls, this course teaches participants an easy to use the process for defining requirements. During this course, participants will learn:
- the difficulties of requirements definition and how to overcome them;
- the four types of requirements used in successful projects and procurements;
- an easy to use the process for defining summary, business, technical and professional services requirements; and
- best practices, tips, and techniques for comprehensive requirements definition.
In addition, participants will engage in hands-on exercises to assist in defining requirements for their project or procurement, and participants will be provided with document templates to assist in the requirements definition process.
